Personal & Career Development: Creative Clarity

Freeing the voice, finding authenticity, and having the courage to speak from the heart.

“To free the voice is to free the person.” — Kristin Linklater

Is your relationship with your voice complex?

For many, the answer to this question is a definite, ‘Yes’. Voice taps into so many aspects of our lives. It’s a key part of being human, connected to and affecting the physiological, psychological, neurological, and emotional systems of both speaker and audience. This is true whether you’re a Leader navigating your team through change, or a parent supporting your child through everything.

Would you like to address some fears around using your voice, and work on building clarity and confidence? Are you drawn to exploring the deeper psychological and emotional aspects of voice? Do you feel confused about what your voice is, and worried about how you come across when using it?

If so, you are not alone, and there’s plenty you can do to feel confident, creative, and connected to your self, your voice, your world.

This work is for all those who want to get creative and feel empowered when speaking. For those wanting to explore their identities (parent, employee, manager, child) and bring a sense of meaning and connection between them. For those transitioning from one role and way of life (such as parental leave) into another (for example, working parent).

Perhaps you’ve been wanting to work on your voice but wondering whether this is the right approach or the right time to take that step. Perhaps you’ve been wondering if there’s someone who can support you to use your voice but also to explore what your voice is. Perhaps you feel trapped between identities and never fully you. I can help.

If you feel like you can shout and still not be heard; if you feel you’ve been trapped by ideas of how you should be, and unable to express who you really are; if you feel your voice is not your own, that it gives you away in times of emotion, that it’s too high, too low, too soft, too loud, too much of anything, know that you are enough and this work is for you.

Over a course of 3 to 12 sessions we’ll work with voice, body and the arts to free your relationship with your voice and the potential within you.

Using voice, poetry, drawing, movement and sound, we’ll work playfully to explore tones, vocal qualities, and characters that you didn’t or don’t think are right for you — discovering what they release and how they add to your capacity for human connection through communication. We’ll spend time on breathwork, to ensure you have solid foundations for coping with emotions associated with voice and voicing. We’ll explore practical and physiological habits and obstacles, to make you feel more in control of your voice and your ability to develop greater confidence in it, and in yourself. We’ll explore how you might apply this work outside the coaching space, to ensure that you are able to build a bridge from the development taking place in the sessions to the external world.

This work will make you feel authentic and grounded.

It will strengthen your confidence and give you clarity on who you are, what you want to be doing, and where. You will feel connected to your voice and excited about the possibility of using it. You’ll discover new ideas and inspiration for your personal, professional and career pathways, feeling energised and creative, alive and emboldened to make your own choices.

There will be practical, actionable voicework involved, but the overarching approach is one of fluid creativity towards self-discovery: we follow what emerges from your development in an entirely bespoke programme. I’ll create a blueprint based on our initial conversation, which will be adapted according to need as sessions continue.

Check-ins take place throughout to ensure we’re aligned in our working. Sessions can take place online or in-person and are usually 1-hour long. A taster session is available before you commit to longer term work.
